Keyboarding Applications is class for 8th grade students who have successfully master the skill of using the alphabetic keys. The course is designed to allow students to work independently to gain competence in using the basic commands and functions of Microsoft Word, a word processing program to create a wide variety of professional documents. These skills are a prerequistite for computer courses that are required in high school.
Keyboarding I-This course is designed to provide an opportunity to master the skill of entering alphabetic keys using the touch method of keystroking. Emphasis is placed on development of accuracy and speed, proper techniques, and correct fingering. Students are expected to key 20 words a minute at the end of this course. This course is offered to any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student that has not mastered the alphabetic keys.
Keyboarding II-This course is designed to provide an opportunity to strengthen students' keyboarding skills and will introduce the punctuation keys, top-row numbers, and numeric keypad. Basic word processing skills will be integrated. Continued emphasis is placed on development of accuracy and speed, proper techniques, and correct fingering.
